Air Filters
Overview of Air Filters
Filter Services supplies a range of air filters in the form of panels and fabricated structures that are used to remove airborne particular contamination from the environment. Airborne dust is trapped inside the filter media and the depth enables a large dust holding capability without significantly reducing through flow of air. The air filter media can be made from a wide variety of fibres such as polyester, paper, cellulose, cotton, viscose and glass, often encapsulated in a cardboard support structure. Foam structures from polymers and elastomers are also available.
The structures used can be graduated and multi-layered to improve the volume filtration properties. The thicker the media and the better the porosity gradient, the more effective the air filter will be in providing a consistent performance over time. The depth or thickness of the media will hold large amounts of particulate matter without reducing the effective airflow. The depth of the air filter severely limits the effectiveness of the most common cleaning methods such as shaking, reverse air flow or pulsing. Therefore these filters are generally regarded as disposable and are not cleaned.
Air Filter Media is often categorized into grades such as G1, G2, G3, G4, M5, M6, F7, F8, F9. Filter Media is tested using EN 779:2012 standard. Filter Efficiency is regarded as the ability of the filter media to collect airborne particulate matter. The energy efficiency of filter media is also a measured characteristic.
Pleated panels are also supplied. By pleating the media the surface area can be greatly increased. A small volume can hold a large surface area. The large surface area may enable surface filtration and cleaning to be possible.
Examples of air filters for Industrial Applications are Multi-pocket Bag Filters, Pleated Filter Panels, High Efficiency Filters, HEPA Filters and Secondary Filters.
